§ 46-38. Investigation of fires.

  • (a)

    The fire chief, or any member of his department whom he may designate, shall investigate promptly the cause, origin, and circumstances of each fire occurring within the city by which a person has been injured or property destroyed or damaged.

    (b)

    If it appears to the officer making the investigation that such fire is of suspicious origin, he shall immediately take charge of any physical evidence thereof, or seal the premises and notify the proper authorities designated to make the investigation of such matter.
